Are you passionate about preserving India’s handloom heritage and uplifting the lives of weavers and artisans? This is your chance to make a real difference. Save Handloom Foundation is seeking dedicated volunteers from every state and union territory of India — from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Gujarat to Assam — to become our grassroots representatives.
Why We Need You
The handloom industry is spread across thousands of clusters and villages. Each region has its own weaving traditions, challenges, and hidden stories. To reach every loom and every artisan family, we need committed volunteers who:
- Understand their local weaving clusters and communities.
- Can engage directly with weavers and artisan families in their own language and culture.
- Act as bridges between the Foundation and regional artisans.
Together, we aim to ensure year-round work for weavers and transform them into micro-entrepreneurs who live and work with dignity, free from debt and middlemen.
Your Role as a Volunteer
As a state/region volunteer, you will:
- Identify and Onboard Weavers
Connect with local weaving families, clusters, and cooperatives, introducing them to the Foundation’s support model. - Empower Micro-Entrepreneurs
Educate weavers about our system: we pay 50% advance to procure high-quality natural raw materials and safe dyes, and the remaining 50% on completion — ensuring artisans never fall into debt traps. - Promote Ethical Markets
Support us in channeling their finished products to platforms like Handlooom.com, DesiFusions.com, and major marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart, JioMart, Myntra, Ajio, etc.). - Create Awareness & Build Networks
Help organize local events, workshops, and exhibitions; share artisans’ stories on digital platforms; and spread awareness about authentic handloom. - Ensure Dignity & Sustainability
Be part of the mission that eliminates exploitation, middlemen delays, and six-month payment cycles — replacing them with steady income, respect, and security for artisan families.
Who Can Apply
We’re looking for people who:
- Have knowledge of local handloom clusters and interest in traditional crafts.
- Are good communicators and can engage with both artisan families and urban audiences.
- Are self-motivated, proactive, and passionate about building social impact.
- Bring experience in community work, volunteering, or social entrepreneurship (preferred but not mandatory).
- Can use digital tools and social media to amplify our mission (bonus).
