In a world flooded with mass-produced fashion and rising counterfeit products, how do we preserve the soul of Indian handloom? The answer lies not just in heritage, but in technology. And at the heart of this technological leap is something deceptively simple yet revolutionary: the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
At Save Handloom Foundation, we’ve developed a blockchain-powered Digital Product Passport system custom-built for the handloom sector. Now, we’re stepping into the next chapter — transforming this into a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform that will empower both government agencies and private brands to implement it effortlessly, securely, and at scale.
🧵 What Is a Digital Product Passport?
A DPP is a unique digital identity embedded in each handloom product — via QR code or NFC chip — that holds traceable information including:
- Origin and type of raw materials
- Names and details of the weaver, dyer, finisher
- Natural dye or chemical process used
- Photographs and timestamp logs of every process
- Blockchain verification of authenticity
- Warranty and care instructions
This allows any consumer — local or global — to scan the product and verify its entire journey, from loom to label.
🌐 From Pilot to Platform: Scaling DPP as a SaaS
We’re transforming our DPP system into a SaaS platform — one that handloom cooperatives, D2C brands, private sellers, and government agencies can easily access and implement.
🎯 Launching Soon: DPP as a SaaS
We are currently developing a cloud-based, plug-and-play platform that will be launched in early 2026. The system is being built with the following modules:
🔧 Key Features of the Upcoming SaaS Application:
| Module | Function |
|---|---|
| Vendor Portal | Add/edit product data, manage weavers, upload images, generate QR/NFC codes |
| Weaver Interface | App access to update weaving progress, photos, videos |
| Blockchain Engine | Immutable data logging on Hyperledger or Polygon |
| Scan & Verify Tool | For customers to authenticate products instantly |
| Warranty & Service Log | Optional digital warranty claims module |
| Analytics Dashboard | View verification stats, user engagement, counterfeit alerts |
| Marketplace API Integration | WooCommerce, Shopify, Amazon-compatible APIs |
💰 Flexible Pricing – Designed for Inclusivity
| Plan | Ideal For | Pricing | Inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Small cooperatives & NGOs | ₹1,999/month | QR-based tracking, data hosting |
| Pro | D2C brands & export houses | ₹5,999/month | NFC, analytics, warranty, app access |
| Enterprise | Government & large clusters | Custom | On-premise, multilingual training, white-labeled dashboard |
NFC chips and QR stickers will be billed separately at transparent, scalable pricing.
🏢 SaaS Rollout Plan for Private and Govt. Vendors
📍 For Government Use
We’re engaging with cooperative societies and khadi boards to implement the DPP SaaS system across:
- State-run handloom clusters
- KVIC-supported artisans
- Export promotion councils
Each cluster will get:
- Dedicated dashboard
- Custom NFC supply
- Regional language training
- Local IT support and AMC options
We aim to make this a default traceability tool for all state-supported handloom exports by 2026.
🛍️ For Private Brands
For mid-sized and growing brands:
- One-click API plugins for existing e-commerce platforms
- Mobile scanning tools for in-store verification
- AR storytelling integration (Phase 2)
- Direct dashboard access for product and team management
Whether you’re a heritage sari brand or a modern linen shirt label, this tool helps build trust and stand out in a crowded market.
🧑💻 What’s Coming After the SaaS Launch?
We’re not stopping at launch. Here’s what’s cooking for Phase 2 & 3:
- 📱 Mobile app for real-time updates from weavers
- 🧠 AI-integrated dashboards for detecting fake product claims
- 🪄 Augmented Reality experience for end-consumers (Weaver Story in 3D)
- 🎫 Digital Warranty Card for customers to request returns, repairs
- 🌍 Open Verifier API for customs, marketplaces, and NGOs to verify authenticity
🔐 Security, Trust & Compliance
We’ve built this platform with India’s upcoming DPDP Act and global GDPR guidelines in mind. Security includes:
- Blockchain integrity
- Role-based access
- Multi-layer encryption
- Cloud backups + local fallback (for gov use)

🚀 Final Thought: This Is Our “Digital Khadi” Movement
In 1947, khadi became the symbol of freedom.
In 2025, Digital Product Passports will become the symbol of authenticity, sustainability, and justice for artisans.
The DPP SaaS system is not just a tool.
It’s a new infrastructure for truth in textiles.
Let’s empower our weavers.
Let’s protect our legacy.
Let’s give India’s handloom sector the digital shield it truly deserves.
