Handloom is one of India’s oldest strengths. It is history, heritage, and human skill woven into fabric. But today, it is also one of the most troubled industries—fake products everywhere, middlemen eating profits, synthetic fibers entering in the name of “handmade,” and real weavers left struggling.
At DMZ International Imports & Exports Pvt Ltd and Save Handloom Foundation (Public Charitable Trust), we are building a system that solves these problems in a fair, transparent, and sustainable way.
We have two strong arms:
- Handlooom.com – a global handloom online marketplace run by DMZ International.
- DesiFusions.com – a Handloom eCommerce brand run by the Save Handloom Foundation.
Together, they give customers authentic handloom with peace of mind and give weavers and artisans steady work with dignity.
Arm 1: DMZ International – Handlooom.com Marketplace
Handlooom.com is the online handloom only marketplace of DMZ International. It is not just a online shop, but a movement to bring real handloom directly to the world.
- Global reach: We deliver to 220+ countries and 20,000+ pincodes in India.
- Vendors: Only authentic weavers, cooperatives, and handloom sellers can join. Powerloom fabric with a handprint is not accepted as handloom. Ajrakh designs on synthetic fabric are not accepted as handloom. A Poly Khadi Nehru jacket made with polyester and khadi blend is not accepted as handloom.
- Truth in every product: We use Blockchain-backed Digital Product Passports (DPPs). Customers can scan a QR code or NFC chip and see the full story—from yarn and dyes to the loom and the weaver.
- Customer trust: Handlooom.com is the first brand in handloom to give a 1-year warranty on its own products.
- B2C and B2B: We sell directly to customers and also supply boutiques, shops, and international buyers & sellers.
- Extra reach: Products are also listed on Amazon India, a platform promoting authentic Indian crafts.
In short, Handlooom.com is where the customer meets the real weaver—without middlemen, without fakes, with full trust.
Arm 2: Save Handloom Foundation – DesiFusions.com
The Save Handloom Foundation is our public charitable trust. Its brand is DesiFusions.com.
Here, the focus is not just on selling products on Amazon Karigar but also on empowering weavers and artisans.
- Custom orders: When customers or boutiques ask for custom sarees or fabrics, we assign the project to the right weaver.
- Advance payment: We pay 50% upfront so the weaver can buy yarn, natural dyes, and materials.
- Balance payment: When the saree or fabric is finished, the weaver gets the remaining 50%.
- No risk of unsold stock: If the product doesn’t sell immediately, the Foundation procures it and sells it under DesiFusions.com.
- Regular work: Signed weavers get projects round the year, not just festival season.
- Micro-entrepreneurship: With steady orders and fair payments, weavers become micro-entrepreneurs, building sustainable incomes with dignity.
DesiFusions.com is where handloom meets stability and dignity—a trust-led model that makes sure no weaver is left behind.
Lakshmi’s Story – A Weaver Finds Dignity
Lakshmi, a weaver from Kerala, spent years weaving sarees but lived with uncertainty. Payments were delayed, middlemen took the profit, and fakes in the market devalued her work.
Through Handlooom.com, her sarees now reach global buyers. Each piece carries a DPP, showing her name, village, and weaving process. Customers can scan and see her story.
Through Save Handloom Foundation, Lakshmi receives 50% advance, 50% on delivery, and if her saree doesn’t sell immediately, it is procured and listed on DesiFusions.com.
For the first time, Lakshmi is not just a worker—she is a micro-entrepreneur with financial security and dignity.
Anita’s Story – A Customer Finds Peace of Mind
Anita, a software engineer from Delhi, loved handloom sarees but never trusted the market. Too often, polyester and powerloom were sold as “handloom.”
When she bought from Handlooom.com, things changed.
- She ordered a kasavu saree woven by Lakshmi.
- She scanned the DPP and saw the entire process, right from yarn to loom.
- For the first time, she was 100% sure it was authentic handloom.
- She even received a 1-year warranty—something unheard of in the handloom industry.
For Anita, it was not just a saree. It was peace of mind and the joy of supporting a real artisan.
Why Only Natural Fibers
We are clear and uncompromising:
- A handprint on powerloom fabric is not handloom.
- An Ajrakh or block print on synthetic fabric is not handloom.
- If the base fabric is not handmade from natural fibers, it does not belong in our brands.
We deal only in cotton, linen, silk, hemp, and other natural fibers.
The Dangers of Synthetic Fiber Fashion
Synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, acrylic, and spandex are more than just fakes—they are dangerous.
- Microplastics: Every time these fabrics are washed or worn, they release tiny plastic fibers. These enter water, air, and food chains. Recent studies show they are now found in human lungs, blood, brain, testicles, and ovaries—linked to infertility, hormonal imbalance, and cancers.
- Toxic dyes: These fabrics are often dyed with harsh chemical dyes made from crude oil waste. Our skin absorbs these toxins while sweating, leading to long-term health risks.
- Environmental damage: Synthetic fibers don’t decompose. They choke oceans, kill marine life, and come back into our bodies through food.
This is why we educate society: synthetic “handmade” fashion is not just bad for tradition, it is bad for health and the planet.
